CCI Ammo
« on: January 22, 2007, 12:25:29 PM »
Hey yall. Those of yall who have read my recent posts on here remember that I've ordered a .22WMR. This will be my first .22 Magnum, and I dont know much about the ammo offered. The selection looks nice, and CCI by far has my vote, at least by marketing. I have bought 3 boxes of CCI Maxi-Mags, 2 of HP's, and 1 of TMJ in preparation for my rifle. I got the TMJ's @ a local dealer of mine for like $10.27, and got the others @ Wally-World for $8.27 a box. The TMJ's cost $8.47 @ Wal-Mart, but I found that out today. I dont know what the HP's are cheaper, seems like it would be a more complex process to make HP's than solids. Anyways, what do yall think of CCI's lineup of .22WMR? Is the ammo good, as a whole? From what I've heard they are a pretty reputable ammo maker. So time will tell I reckon....but they sure make their stuff look good, even if it aint ;D Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

You made a good choice with CCI ammo. It is available everywhere and shoots good in about every gun. CCI loads ammo for a lot or the big manufactuers like Federal and Remington Vmax ammo.

Well, Saturday I went to Wally-World and ordered a H&R Sportster, the regular model (iron sights, etc.). I got it for a total of $117.51. I went back up there today to see if my order had been processed, and they said that when they put the order through Saturday, that the order went through to the distributor. The lady told me that they should receive/process the order this afternoon. She also said that they had 10 .22WMR's in stock. So I should receive mine at the end of this week, or the middle of the next. I've been contemplating either painting it in a subdued camo pattern or just ordering a set of wood stocks for it, as I dont know how pleased I am going to be with the synthetic stocks. CCI looked like they had quality ammo, thats why I decided to choose it first. Nothing against Winchester, Remington, or Federal. As long as they stay around the same price, CCI is what I'll go with, given my rifle likes 'em. Anyways, if you care to bs some more or whatever, pm me.

If you can find them try the CCI +Vs! 30gr.bullet at 2,300+fps! They are bad to the bone!

I tried those 30 grainers and could not get them to group, did you have any luck with them shooting small groups?....<><.... :)

  Me too MSP..

Hey Mag-check...while I agree with you about CCIs being a great choice, I find that the hyper mags (30 gr) don't shoot nearly as well as the regular 40 gr bullets do.
My two mags are a Savage-Anschutz (actually today's  #1416 Annie) and an NEF Sportster.

Between the TNT and the V-Max, the V-max came closer to the good groups shot by the regular 40 gr types...the TNTs being much off the standard..

In the hyper class, my rifles both seem to like Winchester Supremes better.

I can't explain it ..but I still like CCIs..

Me too ironglow..( ;D)

The Winchester Supremes shoot the best out of my coyote Sportster followed closely by the 40 grain CCI's. I have a buddy who's .22 Mag Sportster just loves the old Federal 50 grainers, what a coyote round they were. That particular round is discontinued now but there is a new 50 grainer out that I bought him a box of and we have to try out. He did though just (yesterday) buy a Savage Model 24, .223 over 12 gauge as a do all coyote gun. It should be at his FFL on Monday or Tuesday, he may put up the Sportster for a while. He told me he did do a winter camo job to his Marlin 336 in .35 Remington for coyotes, it was his go to gun before the Sportster and already has a few has coyotes to it's credit....<><.... :)

Yes, you will have to find out which round your mag is going to like. My VMBZ hates the +Vs but my 20" barrel Ruger loves them! But all my Mag rifles like the Supremes!
