Fitting 25-06 barrel from the classifieds...
« on: January 23, 2007, 01:44:18 PM »
I shimmed the25-06 ultra  barrel to lock up tight when closed but when I open it, the barrel seems loose. The lock up is super tight but this "loose when open" thing bothers me.    My other guns are much tighter when open.  This barrel is an ejector model if that matters.  Any insight?

Is it just loose just when the action is open and the forearm is off or when the action is open and the forearm is firmly attached as well?....<><.... :)

If it's a wood forend, remove the spacer screws and shim between the spacer and forend, I use aluminum furnace tape, it's easy to work with and can be trimmed with a razor blade so it doesn't show.
