Velocity of 250g bullet over 150g load?
« on: January 24, 2007, 11:08:49 AM »
Does anyone know the muzzle velocity of a 250 grain bullet out of an Encore/omega with a load of 150 grains?

Thanks,

Gees! that seems high - I am only getting 2450 from 200 grain SW's with 150.  I get 1875fps with the 250's and 100 grains loose T7-2f.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Does seem kinda high.  I realize longer barrel length gets a few more fps.  If I'm not mistaken, three 50 grain pellets is about equivalent to 120 grains loose.

I settled on 110 grains in my Knight Disc, but I always assumed I was a little shy of 2000fps.....................

Any body with a chronograph?

I use 120 gr. of loose triple 7 with T/C 250 gr. Bonded shock waves with the super glide sabots. I am getting between 2085 to 2120 fps.  This is in my Encore Pro-hunter with a 28 inch barrel.
Sorry if you thought coop2564 was a little high. That was why I wrote he was "about" right.
So Gees! I don't know what to tell you.  ???

Read my post above.  ;)

And yes 2 more inch of barrel will increase your velocity about 40 to 80 fps faster.

You are right.... my reading skills suck... I read it as you were telling coop the velocity should be "2560fps is the right answer..."

sorry - I am headed back to the dog house...

OK, now I see where you were coming from.  :D   I don't think even with 200 gr. you could get 2560. (SO NO ONE ASKS) I am not recommending shooting 200 gr. of powder.  It was just an open minded thought.
