westernfield
« on: January 24, 2007, 12:16:01 PM »
I recently came across a 22 that was my Dads. This gun is a western field SB808B. I have looked all over to cross reference it and think I have come close with an identification as a Savage 87. I can find 808b&c or SB80A. I cant find any pictures of a Savage 87. If anyone knows of any better recources for photos and cross referencing I would appreciate the help/links. Thanks.

If it's a Savage it has a fairly unique action. When the trigger is pulled the gun fires and the bolt stays to the rear until the trigger is releaased. This action was the basis for a lot of savage models and on GunParts diagrams one can see the a picture of the 87..
