Speaking of the Glock 21
« on: May 04, 2003, 02:54:01 PM »
Who has the best deals on the 13 rd. mags?  I think I've come across a pretty good deal on a slightly used G 21 but no regular (13 rd.) mags with it.  Anyone got any line on a good source of 13 rd. mags.  Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Unfortunatley 13 round Glock21 mags are hard to find. The 21 was never produced in the quanities that the Mdl 22 & 17 were. My 13 rounders are LE mags, and I have not seen any preban mags advertised for the 21. I would say you may have to be happy with the 10 roumders. I myself wouldn't pay $100+ for a mag that holds 3 extra rounds!

Thanks for the response Savage.  Doesn't look like I'll be making the deal on the 21 anyway.  I would agree that it seems a little silly to pay $100 + for 3 more rounds when the 10 rd. mags can be bought for less than $20.  Name of the game is supply and demand.  I happen to have a couple of new hi-cap Para mags so I am currently looking for a decently priced Para or Springfield that will take these mags.

Charlie,
If capacity is more important to you than the platform, by all means buy a Para O. I think you can still get the preban Hi-Caps from the factory with the purchase of one of these. The Paras and Springfields (1911 style) are and entirely different beast from the 21. If I were not in LE I would not have the 13rd mags and would be perfectly content with the 10rd. I often carry a Kimber Classic Stainless Target on duty with 8rd mags and don't feel undergunned! Don't let your weapon preference be dictated by mag capacity alone. One other glimmer of hope out there is the "Sunset" clause in the magazine ban. There is a very good chance in a year or so you'll be able to by the hi-caps for $20 too!

Hi-cap is not the only basis for the choice.  I own a Glock (had several, traded, sold, bought more) which I feel is one of the best guns I have ever owned.  I even think their pretty!  The 19 I have will hold 18 rounds.  I also own a Springfield which I think is a very good gun.  No FTF's ever.  I would just like to have a hi-cap .45 just 'cause I want one.  You probably know how us gun nuts are!

High capacity is nice, but it isn't everything. The first REAL gun I bought (bigger than a .22) was a Glock 21. Was actually looking to buy another .45, but I had never fired one before. The local range rented guns, but all of their rentals were Glocks (now I know why). I didn't like the way it looked, didn't like the flat top, but then I fired it . . . . The first five rounds went into a single hole in the target about the size of my thumbnail. Wow, couldn't believe it. Shots 6-13 made the hole a little bigger, but there was just the one hole—except for one flyer that happened because I was getting excited and wasn't concentrating. After shooting it, I bought one and never regretted it. Ten years later, it's still my primary carry gun, and even if it did just have 10 rounds, I know where they'd go if I had to use it.
