What's it worth?
« on: May 05, 2003, 03:03:06 AM »
TC Contender, 1991 mfg with 10 inch 30 Herrett scope only BBL, TC lighted reticle 2-7 rail mount scope, Finger groove grip, competitor forend + wide BR forend, suede case, Lee Dies + hornady neck die, 70 rounds of formed brass.  Barrel is like new- minimal or no frame marks, frame is not far behind- some forend blueing wear but no rust/ broken parts.  Thanks for opinions, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...   It may be in the classified soon.

Frame is worth $175- (but you can get more than that for it sometimes on Auction Arms or Gun Broker, but you pay a nominal fee to sell it), barrel and scope will get you $150-200 depending on who's looking for one and how bad they want it, with the dies and brass add $50. Wood will bring $40-50 maybe more depending on what it looks like. Put it in a package and you'll get less than the parts, but reduce your time/effort on selling it. Might bring $400 as a package and if you set your auctions up right on AA you might get over $500 for the parts...but you might end up not being able to sell some of the parts too. A couple of newer frames went for $225-250 recently on AA (and a phone call to Ed's Contenders or James Lewis enterprise would have gotten them for $175-200...go figure). If you put it on auction, use pictures. Personally, I'd rather use the classified section here, it's easy and free. Folks know what they're buying and pay a fair price.
