Pro Hunter 12ga Slug barrel question
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:00:58 PM »
Anyone have the PH 12ga slug barrel?  How does it shoot?  Does it require the special (long) scope mount base that the blue 24" BBL does?

ttt.  Anyone see the PH  12GA Slug bbl yet?  Does it require the (207-9949) Weaver 12 Ga Scope Base (six screw)???

i would imagine it using the same 6 screw base.  imho a 28" slug barrel is a bad idea and purely for marketing purposes.  everything i've read says the best barrel length for slugs is 18-22".  any longer than 24" and the slugs begins slowing down, also, more time in the barrel will lead to more time for the shot to be off.

Thanks for the input.  I'm not overly wild about the 28" barrels on the Encore.

I do believe the newer Hornady ammo is shot thru a 26" tube to get their velocities...so I would bet they would do rather well from a 28" tube...
