shimming scope rings

I have read the pro and con of shimming vs burris rings but I just need to clear something up, If poi is 8" low at 50 yds. do you shim the front or rear rings. I just need a answer? I use Millett angle-loc rings with a Simmons 8-point 4-12x40 scope.

If you are shooting low you raise the rear of the scope. IMO it is best to shim under the scope mount if possible, otherwise shim between bottom of the ring and the scope tube.

Thanks, I had figured that but someone mentioned that if rear shimmed it will lower it more. Thanks again. Will try it and will get back with results if only the weather will cooperate.

I went out to the range today 5 shims from a coke can placed in rear ring base raised it 8". I was able to zero at 100 yds. with 17 grain federal v-shok before it got dark.
