700 BDL Questions

Did Remington ever produce a matte finished 700 BDL with a tupperware stock?  Is it possible to get good accuracy with the plastic factory stocks?

I've never heard or seen  a matte finished 700 BDL with a synthetic stock. S.S. yes

I'm thinking this might have been a special run for Cabela's.  That's where it came from when it was new.

A buddy of mine was looking at one, but I'm not sure it was the BDL.  He decided it looked to cheap and went with the ss bdl in 300 RUM.

I'm probably going to sell the plastic stock and buy a 700 Classic stock for it.  I have a Weaver base, tip off rings, and a Leupold 3X9 Rifleman standing by as well.  I think I may have a chance to hunt Idaho soon and it will be my primary gun for that trip.  My .308 BDL will be my backup.  Here's the old .308 BDL that I dressed up a little using eBay parts.

What caliber are you thinking?  Accuracy wise, your better off with the synthetic.

Not sure if they ever made a BDL that way, but I do have a matte/synthetic ADL in 300 mag.  Mine shoots around 1/2" at 100 with handloads.  I will say it is one of the cheaper looking Remingtons I have ever seen, but other than a Shilen trigger, it's stock, and shoots superbly.

The answer is YES!

From 1989-1991, Remington made one called a 700AS, that had a black matte finish, and a plain (no checkering) black synthetic stock, with a BDL hinged floor plate, etc.  It was just prior to the stainless versions.

I picked one up new last March, 30-06, matte/synthetic BDL. Bought it at Cabelas and I thought too they were a special run for the store, But... I've seen them at other gun stores also. When I first saw the ad I thought it was a misprint, that it was an SPS or something, but to my surprise it wasn't. Got it for the never to be seen again price of 349.95. I got it sitting in the safe and when I can decide on a caliber/cartridge I'm going to have it re-barreled. Not a fan of the 'ol 06, but for the price I should of got 2 or 3. CRASH87
