.204 Encore Key-Holeing....HELP!!!
« on: January 28, 2007, 02:55:08 PM »
Went to the range to sight-in my brand new .204 Encore and the thing was Key-Holeing every shot.

It is a 26 inch heavy barrel and I was shooting Hornady 40 grain V-Max factory stuff.

Any ideas???

I plan to call TC tomorrow AM and ask them, What's up?!!?

Thanks!

Mark

Try different ammo. I don't know how the barrel could cause this without noticing something seriously wrong.

Neither of my TC .204s will shoot 40 gr. Vmaxs. I use either 32 gr. bullets from Hornady or Sierra or else I will use the 39 gr. Sierras. Tc will not be able to help you regardless.

Thanks for the input!

I will try the 32 grainers and see what happens.  Are the 39 grain Sierras strictly a handloading option or does someone load them in a factory round?

Thanks again!

Twist is not fast enough to stabilize the 40 grainer.
