Made my own cross bolt safety replacement.
« on: January 28, 2007, 03:11:29 PM »

I wanted one of these for my 1895GS and there wasn't anybody making them. So I made my own. Took me a while and I did have a blued replacement that I had bought for my 1894 Cowboy. I just copied that one. Chucked some stainless rod up in my drill press and went to town. I think from now on I will be making my own. I can make them fit my gun better and I like the smaller screw slot as it matches the gun screws better.

Your right someone does but I don't know who. Maybe Nonneman made one for your gun? If you have the tools it isn't that hard to make one. I did mine in about 4 hours from scratch. The hardest part was cutting the screw slot. Getting it centered by eyeballing it was kinda difficult.

How do you like Nonnaman's work on your 50 Alaskan?  I'm thinking about having a 336 converted.
