Red Dot on a Muzzleloader?
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:37:16 PM »
I live in Nebraska where you can only use a 1X scope.  Will any of the Red Dots hold up to a 50 Cal Muzzleloader?

Thanks for your time

I know my Ultra dots hold up to my 460 and 500 Mag handguns and the recoil is a lot more than a muzzleloader.

Walk,

I live in NE also.  Just about any red-dot will hold up to a ML.  I reccommend an Aimpoint, but thier very expensive.  I have tried red dots and 1X scopes, but prefer open fiber optic sights myself.

The main reason I like the Aimpoint is that it is totally parallax free, so you don't have to worry about centering the dot to be on target.  Also I can see better thru it.  My wife has one on her ML.  Millet is the only other company I know that makes a parrallax free red-dot that doesn't need to be centered.

Have you looked at the Ultra-dot's?

The dot is always centered, no matter where I move my head the dot stays centered. So I don't have to worry about being right in line with the red-dot.  So I guess you can say it is Parallax free.
I like the ability to adjust the dot size and light intensity on the Ultra-dot Match-dots also.
