SBH scope mount
« on: January 29, 2007, 05:42:55 AM »
I previously had a Leupold scope mount on my SBH, and took it off because I didn't like how awkward it felt with the back end of the scope hanging over my wrist. I'm looking at the Weigand mount. It looks like I would be able to mount it more forward, being that it has more slots for the rings.

1. Is my assumption correct?

2. Would drilling more holes weaken the frame too much? (The Weigand screw holes do not match the Leupold screw holes)

Thanks

I've no experience with the mounts you mentioned but drilling always removes metal and that has to weaken the frame, but does it create a dangerous problem?? Likely not but there is a way to avoid any possible problem, don't drill any more holes in the frame! Instead drill the extra holes in the mount base. requires a little more work but not too much.. Good luck..
