I received my free 2007 IMR loading guide today. I gotta say it seems rather thin and data seems sparse for some of the metallic cartridges compared to older versions. Can't speak to the shotgun loading data.
Is Hodgdon's going to wind down IMR? Granted there are a ton of manuals out there but here are som eof my first observations:
223 Rem - only loads for 40, 50, 55 gr bullets. Sure would have thought they might include loads for 60 (+) gr and maybe 45 gr.
30-30 - maybe some loads for 125-130 bullets?
30-06 - no 200 gr loads?
300 win mag - no 165 loads! I can understand no 220 gr loads but they used to show some.
338 win mag - I'm real surprised to see no loads for a 225 grain bullet.
40 S&W - no 165 - 170 gr loads
41 Mag - Hardly any loads. Heck I've seen quite a few posts where 800X is very good in the 41 mag. Also, it sure would be nice if they recognized the growth in popularity of the heavy lead bullets in the 41 and at least provide some data for a 250 gr cast gas check bullet. I think I read that one of the 4227's got eliminated so I understand its absence here - just as I start using it more in this cartridge with 250 gr jacketed bullets.
I haven't compared actual recommended load weights to older versions. I know its a ton of work to do these manuals but some of these omissions really surprised me.
