Even though you provided a detailed description, there are so many variations that it seems to come down to specific features.  A check in the Gun Traders Guide indicates the following:

"1966 Model 70 Rifles (serial numbers 700,000 to about 1,005,000)"

Your rifle would seem to be a 1966 model but is included with Model 70's manufactured between 1964-1971.

Now, in the section listed for Model 70's manufactured from 1964 -1971 there are eight different styles.  Based on your description, the one that most fits is the Model 70 Standard. It's description is as follows:

"Model 70 Standard ................ NIB $458  Ex $380  Gd $257
Calibers:  .22-250, .222 Rem., 225, 243, 270, .308 Win., .30-06.
Five round box magazine. 22-inch bbl. Weight: 7.5 lbs. Sights:
Open rear; hooded ramp front.  Monte Carlo stock w/cheekpiece,
checkering, swivels.  Made from 1964-71"

The other versions are:

African (.458 Mag)
Deluxe (Monte Carlo stock w/ebony forend tip and hand checkering) NIB $1065 Ex $768  Gd $478
International Army Match Rifle (.308 Win only)
Magnum
Mannlicher
Target (.308 and .30-06 only)
Varmint (Same as Model 70 Standard except with 24" target weight bbl; blocks for target scope; no factory sights installed, but drilled and tapped for front and rear sights)

I really don't know anything about Model 70's.  I saw the post and thought I would look it up in the Gun Trader.   :-[

Hope this helps a bit.
