10ga slugs for Churchill Windsor Mk I
« on: January 30, 2007, 03:33:33 PM »
Anyone else crazy in the same dimension?  I'm having a set of (hopefully rifled) chokes made for my 10 ga SxS.

Will add sights if I can get it to be consistant.

Hope to make my own mould - 2 to 2-1/2 oz.

Hey Al, you aren't alone in looking for a SxS 10ga. Look here, http://www.gunsamerica.com/classifieds/none/_976818094.aspx

Out of my price range but it is what I am looking for. All my friends think I am a bit crazy for wanting such a beast but what the heck!

I've seen them on Gunbroker from time to time for about 1/2 that price.

I need something with a Greener style cross bolt thou.

thanks.

What's with the Greener crossbolt? Strength? Would the American Arms Turkey Special be a bad slug gun? I like the 26in tubes with chokes myself.

Saw one on GB, in my price range. Auction ends in 45 minutes...

Cat Whisperer, would you be so kind as to provide more info on your Churchill? Pics would be cool too.

Thanks.

Nixter

By the way, I like to read about your other toys from the cannon forum.

HeeHeee, that thing rocks!

32inch tubes?

I did get the winning bid on the American Arms Turkey Special. 10gauge SxS, 26inch tubes, chokes. My third 10 gauge.

Any trouble finding chokes for your Churchill, or were they all included?

Spring Snow Goose in Montana... Wish my vacation schedule and checkbook allowed it. :'(

Do you have any info on the Greener crossbolt that Al refered to?

Thanks for the pics!

Nixter

On edit:

I have an e-mail to Federal regarding their 10 gauge slug load. Part number F103RS. Will post the reply here. I have a few boxes of these, just want more info on chokes and such before I fire them in my guns.

I'll have to measure the barrels.

Windsor chokes are different from everything else I've seen, but this fellow says he just needs an example.  In talking with him he is customer satisfaction focused and is on his 3rd CNC machine in 8 years (moved up).

Charles Baltz, Gunsmith.  Ashland Fireamr Service.  12233 Washington HWY, Ashland VA 23005  804-798-1232  M, Th, Fri 10am to 6pm.  Just north of Richmond,VA.

I'm sending him an example (I have 3 of the original 4 chokes marked |, ||| and |||| ) .

I am in the process of finding a source on rifled material to make a rifled choke.

Looks like there is a lot of meat at the muzzle for chokes of any sort.

If I remember correctly, Carlsons has choke tube blanks. Not sure if they offer them in 10 gauge.

Ok, doing a Google search, Carlsons isn't the one with choke blanks. I'll edit this post when I find who makes the blanks.

On edit: Colonial Arms is the place that offers choke tube blanks. 27.50 per choke. Not sure about rifling these blanks. www.colonialarms.com

I just took in the 10 to Mr Baltz and the choke tubes will be done next week (my fault for the delays).

They'll be two cylinder bore chokes, and we'll see soon how they perform.

(I guess it's time to take the loader out of the box)
