those are some great fish yu fellas showed !!! i only see a few problems with them , first off yu have them not me , and second they really needto be cooked up for all of us to sample ,.... i think a which one tastes better .... is a whole lot better then which one is bigger!!!!!!

Wish you guys would quit talking about fish! I'm getting noises from my stomach area ... I think you could call them hunger pains. I love eating different kinds of fish and one of my memories was just stiirred up by Sourdough. A friend of mine was stationed in Washington State (I think that is correct) while in the Navy some years back and went haibut fishing. He called and said he was shipping us some fish back home that he had caught and I just laughed at him thinking it was just another fishing story. Well, it was some of the best eating I have ever had so I researched the halibut a little and man they get huge!

I gotta go ... hope we have some fish sticks in the freezer ... I'm hungry.

Waterfowling is, by far, my main passion.

But, I, too, am told I have too many hobbies. I hunt mostly. From Sept. 1 to March 25th....anything from geese to ducks to deer to squirrels to fox to coyote, and beyond. Shooting and guns, obviously, and bass fishing are close seconds. In my SPARE time, I also reload shotshells, shoot a little skeet, and brew a little beer. The rifle thing is pretty new to me.....I've never really had anything bigger than a .22 until this recent .308 purchase, and my impending slide into 'holicism.

BurntMuch I don't get alot of hunting up there (yet), Most of the time I am up in summer (for years we had just rented near by cabins). I do normally go up around Canadian Thanksgiving (My in-laws live next door though winters they are in Arizona). That time of year I can only hunt with a Muzzleloader and I'll only hunt if I get a few extra days off, . I really want to go hunt there during the rut but I'l need some isulation and a proper wood stove first.

J. I remember goose shoots like that in my youth, Since I moved away from my home town The hunters I know are mostly Big Game hunters but I miss the sight of a big flock cupping there way into your decoys.

My hobbies are shooting, hunting, fishing, reloading and homebrewing. Handi's are the most fun for my son, daughter and I, and luckily they enjoy the first 4 hobbies listed as much as I do, but aren't old enough for consuming the 5th.

Where we fish for Chinook Salmon is catch and release. We are only allowed 4 fish each. Two per day.

Since we don't have any power or refridgeration we have to catch our limit in the last two days before we fly out and put the fish on ice for the trip home.

So all the big fish in the pictures we catch in two weeks are put back into the river.
We do however eat a few. The fish we take home are not always as big as we like.

Well ... I said I wasn't gettin' into the fishing contest but I changed my mind. Here is a 7lb largemouth bass I caught out of a 2 acre lake here in Southern Indiana. He was 22" long but looks bigger in the picture because I had the lens set on wide angle and got as close as I could so he would look bigger .... lol ....

That guy went 5.5 lbs @ 21 inches.

OK, I posted a picture of my kids with the perch just to get in on the thread.

My kids and my lovely wife are the love of my life and most things I do involve them. We love to travel and camp in the summer. Went to South Dakota, to Mt. Rushmore, etc last year. Also to the Oregon coast. I took this photo of our family at Cannon Beach using a tripod.

Anyway, you get the drift. I enjoy shooting, hunting, fishing, traveling, ....................... and the last hobbie is tinkering with the new Handi 223. I still have yet to paint it, but that is coming soon.

cascadedad ... what an awesome family picture! Pheasant hunting, traveling,camping, blowing up milk jugs with rifles, fishing ... that's the good stuff to top off a life with a great family. The pictures were great. Oh ... I took off the stock/forearm of my .223 bb Handi yesterday and stripped the finish off. I lightly sanded it down and put a light coat of Minwax Finish in "Puritan Pine" on it. Looking at it this morning, I am going to mix a little more of the "Puritan Pine" color with a little "China Red" stain (I used this color for my wife's microwave cabinet I built her last fall.) I want a little reddish tint in the final color ... just to see what it will look like.

J Plate ... I love that mount ... looks a lot more natural than mine with the driftwood ... very nice ...

quick ... I caught that bass in mid-July which means there were no eggs to help the weight. It is the biggest I have ever caught in Indiana ... but the state record stands at 14lb 12oz caught in 1991 in a lake about 60 miles from here. That one makes mine look like a minnow.

Guys, I had to add these pics of something that my wife and I do - I didn't think of it as a hobby for some reason. Probably because it is an irregular thing... anyway - we volunteer at a local aviation museum http://www.heritageflight.org/ and help rebuild and restore old airplanes.

These pics of us working on the prepping of a 1952 AD-4 Skyraider were taken in the last two days. It is being painted (by someone else) as I type this...

Everyone here has some cool hobbies. My hobby that occupies more of my time (except for Graybeard Outdoors lately

) than anything else is organic gardening. My wife and I try to eat healthy and I really enjoy growing things so I plant a garden each year. I got into organic gardening the past couple of years to avoid as much chemical intake as possible. I would definately say that my favorite hobby as far as passion goes is hunting (white tail deer, wild turkey, waterfowl, pheasant, varmit, and I have even been privaledged enough to take an elk). Firearms in general would have to be a close second. I have onwned probably 40 guns in my 36 years and currently own way more than Senator Biden would like for me to. I also own and shoot a 1/2 scale black powder cannon and Coehorn mortar that will shoot a tomato paste can full of concrete about as far as you care to walk and pick it up. I recently got back into reloading and find it very much as satisfying as I did when I stopped. Charlie

All of the shooting sports are fun. My kids love to go to the range and shoot. My son also loves hunting, and we've spent lots of time together in the field. He's 14 now, and he's already killed more game than I have. He killed an elk and a deer last year, he wants to get a bear this year so he can say that he's taken "all of the big game in Michigan".

We also like to camp, and we love to fish and go boating. I really get a kick out of watching the kids catch a big salmon or steelhead. And if the fish don't cooperate, it's still fun to go for a boat ride!

I don't have pics, sorry..

I'm into reloading, shooting(both my handi's and airguns).. Summer time is when I'm out of the house the most with fishing(my friends call me the "ultra lite kid"), and shooting my bows(compounds and traditionals), or playing with my cameras(old ones)..

As for my biggest fish(which was on my ultra light rig of course), it was a 6 pound large mouth on 4 pound test.. Best fight ever !!

Oops almost forgot spending time with my future step kids...

That's about it for me...

You guys do a lot of different things ... I used to think I did but you guys ... wow! I like working with wood so the past Friday, I was looking at my .223 bb Handi and wasn't exactly liking the finish on the stock/forearm that came from the factory. It looked a little better than some of the Handi's I have seen in local gunshops but ..... it just wasn't gettin' it done. Friday afternoon, I stripped/sanded the finish off completely and stained the pieces with some Minwax stain I had left over. Saturday morning, I started oiling the pieces, letting them dry, lightly sanding w/400 grit sandpaper, then steel wool, and eventually put 4 coats of oil on them. Sunday morning I used some stock conditioner and polished in two coats. It certainly isn't a professional finish but one anyone can do if I can. Here are the before and after ... sorry, but I had my other Handi (the BumbleBee) in the original picture so I included it in the after picture too. The pictures do not do it much justice as it looks much better in person. Next time, I will paint one ... maybe a camo job.

i guess i'll add my two cents to this
my biggest hobby is guns of course
when i was younger there was nothing like a single action revolver in any caliber
now that im older i like all kinds of guns but my passion i guess is still the single action
my favorite being an old model ruger vaquero in 45lc this is the gun i called and asked ruger to make back in 1973 and was told they didnt see a market for it
i used to work in a wild west show in maggie valley NC back in 76-78 and still love to spin and twirl my vaquero
other than guns i guess my hobbys are weight lifting and riding my motorcycle
i still love the thrill of opening morning of deer season, the anticipation
never was much of a fisherman although i did do some when i was a kid
now a days it seems like i spend alot of time on here talking abt the good old days lol

I have been gone a while again but I guess mine are hunting and fishing with my 5 kids, bench shooting, trap shooting Restoring old tractors and wood working. Right now its remodeling this old 14 room farm house and boy I will be glad when its done let me tell ya.

My other hobby is 4x4 off-roading. I've only started trail riding and rock crawling in the past year or so. Been to Tellico NC, Mt Aetna TN, and River Rock GA, as well as many other small places around north Georgia. Currently driving a '90 Suzuki Samurai with 5.12 R&P on 36" Super Swamper IROKs.

I just started gatherimg parts for the next ride. Samurai frame with Toyota SAS axles. Chevy fuel-injected 4.3, turning 39.5" Super Swamper TSLs.

I do our Sporter Rifle League. A postal (via internet) 50' offhand 22 LR shoot that has about 500 shooters here in upstate NY and northern PA.

I reload and hunt mainly deer and coyote.

I don't fish enough, but used to be pretty decent with a fly rod. I've threated to take it up again.

I build up a few computers for friends and family.

Me and Hobbies, I make bows, arrows, knap a few points. Mostly I get firewood and rock chips but I am getting better.

Handi's 58Ml 308RMEF youth edition, .223 ultra, Next one I want is the .22/22mag/17M2 and hmr.
reload for rifle pistol and shotgun,

Do a little locksmithing, carving, and make some hard cider on occasion.

Havn't had much time for hobbies recently. Mostly work these days.

Hunting is of course number one. Teaching my wife about it is a close 2nd. She shot her first deer this year.

Fishing

I like building stuff and tinkering with stuff. Used to enjoy computers and website design, but since I started doing linux server support full time, I rarely want to look at a computer screen when I get home.

Video games occasionally.

at 24 I'm a young'un compared to most of you guys. Just starting to get my life together, I currently don't own any handi's, but I'm looking forward to getting some things taken care of so I can start the addiction. I've lurked around here for a long time, picking up any info I can about those little rifles, so I can make a well informed decision come time to get one.

Hey fortress, I'm in houston too, and I'm pretty well the opposite! I grew up on Deer and a few hogs, but want to learn wingshooting. Shall we strike a deal??
