45 colt/410

First of all does anyone have the 45 colt/410 combo yet. Secondly will people be reaming the chamber to be able to shoot the 454 casull round? I am assuming this will work as a friend had a 454 casull pistol and would shoot 45 colt rounds in that. Thanks, Charlie

Charlie, it might work IF the frame is an SB2, but the .45/410 in the Survivor is only available with an SB1 shotgun frame which won't handle the Casull's pressure of 50kcup which is the same as Ruger levels of the 45-70. It certainly wouldn't be ideal with the 3" jump to the rifling, either!!

i had a barrel made in 45 colt 410.....not a factory barrel and handloaded the 454 for it ...quick is right the jump of the bulet loosssesss a lot a power going around the bullet that it was not to good a shooter.....the cases of the 454 worked without a problem........someone was trying a 410 slug /bullet in  a brass 410 shell but i dont remember the outcome...........the jump is the worst thing about this...plus a 45 colt seems slow compared to other say 44 speeds.......jb

I have played with the 450 mongo. It solves the jump problem and with 2400 gives me me decent velocity with no pressure signs. I use 24.5 g and a 255 grain swc. I get 1300 from it and I know I could get a lot more velocity with slower powder, but it will do anything I need at 75 yards. I am planning to play with Blue dot and ww296 in the spring. My goal isn't to match a 45/70 just a heavy 45 colt with decent accuracy. I get about 4 inch groups at 75 yards now. It is a far sight better than the 8 inch plus I got with 45 colt.

What frame is the new 20" .45 Colt carbine in?

I'd like to get a small, lightweight rifle in .45 Colt set up for my wife for close-range deer hunting...but all except for the youth models have too long LOP...

Welcome aboard buddy,  2 phillip head screws and a 9/16 or 14 mm socket and you can change a H&R/NRF's stock to whichever stock you desire at that time, youth, adult, synthetic, walnut, laminated, "palletwood", Choate Survivor, mix and match whichever way you want, whatever you want, they all fit. It onlky takes a minute. This with the less than a minute to change barrels (and firearms) makes these guns very "handy". This is one of the fun things about these fine little inexpensive and accurate rifles....<><.... :)

Thanks for the welcome.  :)  I grew up with a Topper, Jr, so I have a lot of love for H&R.
