« on: February 01, 2007, 06:56:26 PM »
my 629 classic came with a scope mount on it so i need a complete rear sight.  it has to be the newer rounded front style.  anyone have one they don't need?

I would check with S&W. Call or E-Mail them or even write them a letter.

There's two different rear sights that are both rounded. The first style has a small screw holding it on, just like the square sight. The newer ones use a larger screw. The newer sight is also shorter. If your gun is a 629-4 or newer you probably need the one with the large screw.

629-4?  how do you tell that?  midway only had round and square tang.  it's a 6 1/2" 629 classic power port, other than that i'd have to know what i was looking for.

I would just buy one.  I like the white outline ones.  Midway lists what frames they fit.  MV out!

I have one of the first of the Power Port 629's, it uses the shorter round sight with large screw hole.........it's the one S&W and others sell now.

Your revolver is a "N" frame, meaning "Large Frame"; Model 629 Classic Revolver - 6 1/2".  This rear sight should fit perfectly: Smith & Wesson Rear Sight Assembly .146" White Outline K, L, N-Frame.  I hope this helps.  The blued one is on backorder for 30 days.  MV out!
