Federal primers difficult to find
« on: February 02, 2007, 12:09:12 PM »
I notice that several local shops are low or out and don't know when they will get restocked. Midway and Grafs low or "out of stock-no backorder. I don't use many Federal but do keep a few 215 and 210m on hand. Anyone know what is going on with this?

My understanding from Sportsmans warehouse is that the factory where Fed made the 210 primers burned down over a year ago and there are no more to get.  Supposedly the gray/silver boxed Champion primers from Federal are the same thing, but I would want some confermation on that.  You know there are rumors for about everything out there.

Tried to find something on the fire in search engine but nothing was listed in search.

Are the Champion primers the same primers just in a different box? I take it that they are made in a different manufacturing facility

I asked the same question and the clerk guy said he did not know if they were the same primer, I guess the only way to find out would be to e-mail Federal or buy a pack and try them in the same loads as the original Fed 210's and see how your accuracy etc... is.  I tend to buy primers by the brick/10 pk so for now I am sticking with the CCI primers since I have have several loads that seem to like them the best anyway.  I will try to e-mail Federal and see if I can get any answers.
