Today was cool 40 degrees overcast and misty with off and on rain showers. I roosted birds last night around 7:30 pm. This morning after 5 set ups in 5 different areas, not ONE gobble or reply. The other day when it was bright sunny and quite warm they wouldnt shut up. They gobbled until almost noon. Not even crows,squirrels or song birds were mooving. Whats up? Im a rookie

I sat around in conditions like you describe a couple of weeks ago and got the same results. It wasn't particularly windy but I've found that they don't like to call in the wind. I attributed this to their wanting to hear approaching predators above the wind and at the same time not giving away their location when their hearing was diminished by it.

I have yet to pattern when turkeys will gobble. I have killed them when the wind was blowing 20+ mph gusts. Three birds gobbling on the roost opening day two years ago. I called between gusts. They heard me and answered and I shut up. They shut up the moment they hit the ground. A few minutes later I nailed one of the birds.
  Sat. we had thunderstorms before and during sunrise with maybe 60 degree temps. I friend of mine bagged a very skidish turkey he had been after since opening day. In the rain. Bird never gobbled on the roost and flew down from the roost in the field 30 yards in front of him. A hen flew down seconds later. When the hen landed the gobbler gobbled twice before recieving a load of # 4's.
 Warm picture perfect days with no wind they seem to be gobbling more  than cool cloudy mornings or windy days. I generally don't let weather stop me from going too often. Lighting and downpoors tend to stop me though.
