Let me start by saying, I had a hoot!
The weather held off and we ended up with mild temps for the weekend. Sunday we had a little sprinkle of rain for about fifteen minutes, but not enought to sto us! We shot nine stages in two days. Saturday was the Wild Bunch day. For the first five stages we were allowed to use stock m-1911 pistols and the stages were written to follow the movie "The Wild Bunch". I used my 1911 for two stages, but the Ammo I bought (lead only, just like regular SASS rules) was giving my poor Springfield a fit so I swithced to my Vaqueros. This match also introduced Nine Foot Ned, our new steel nine foot tall target. It is, for now, the tallest target in SASS! Ned is a Mexican Bandito who challenges ya to try your best. Interestingly enough, his height will throw you off and we had some very good shooters miss! Sunday dawned and we got to engage a 100 yard rifle target on our first stage. We launched 10 at the buffallo at 100 yards(well, actually 97!) and as a bonus, we got three tries at a smaller steel gong. I am proud to announce I hit the buffallo 8 out of 10 times and got the bonus! I missed a couple because the timer started choking on my smoke and I got tickled! :-D I am also proud to announce I took last place in black powder! Oh, well. I had fun!
