I have a S&W 586 with 8 3/8 barrell. It is the regular factory barrel with full length underlug. It has 2 pair of half moons milled into the barrel for scope rings. I bought this second hand and do not know its history. A regular set of rings will not fit because the barrel is narrower than standard weaver rail. Anybody have an idea what I have?
One gunsmith told me it looked like a python scope ring setup. It looks like a factory job or else it had a great reblue.
