Ford -Chevy question, Rem - Win
« on: February 03, 2007, 05:22:04 PM »
I was at a gun store today and saw two very intriguing guns a Model 70varmint and a 700V both looked very comparable and were within 50 bucks both in 243 win, I have had lots of rems but never a winchester. I know its a unanswerable argument but give me some thoughts anyway.

I had considered screwing a model 700 barrel into my RugerM77 action :o
Just Kidding Joe ;D ::)
I had a Model 788 at one time and it was a tackdriver...would stretch those cases badly though...If we could just get a good front bolt locking system on the thing... ;)

nofun1, Sorry for blowing the post so quickly. Yours is a good question and you should get some good feedback here.

You are absolutely right, Its a ford Chevy question, I have had both in the past years and have had good service with both. At this time i have one Winchester- WSSM 223 and have several Remingtons that i seem to go to first.
I think it's what ever turns your crank at the time. Over the years i have had a slew of both, Now i go for which ever gun has done me the best job and not worry about the brand of gun it is. I believe you asked the biggest question ever and i am sorry i can't give you a decent answer but i don't want to get into a ......g contest of which is the better gun mfg. I am sure you will get some responce as which is the best but not from me. Good luck......Joe......

Nofun;

   Rem & Win are both good but why limit yourself ?

   Did you give the Savage rifles a look-over ?  Many folks claim they are "best out of the box"..I'm happy with mine.

     ..could save you a few green ones also..
