I would like to see a Ruger Bisley in .480 Ruger with 11in. barrel and target type iron sights. or Maybe a Super Blackhawk Hunter or SBH Hunter Bisley with a 10.5 in. barrel in .480 Ruger. Anyone in favor say AYE! Until then my common SBH 10.5 in .44mag is my fav.

id take that bisley 480 but in a 4 5/8s vaquero.A non super redhawk 4 inch in 45 colt or 480 to go with the 44s there making A run of the bisley accusports in 32mag./3220 A gp100 in .41 mag and 10mm with moon clips. The aniversary blackhawk flattop in 44 and 45 colt with a 4 5/8s barrel The flattop .357 4 5/8s in othe calibers like the 44 special 4440 3840 the return of the ultra light 77s in 250 sav. A good looking ruger lever gun. The #1 in a lightweight form in 250 and while im on the #1s bring back the quality of walnut they used to use on them. Build them and at least i will come!!!!!!!!

I would like both a caliber and a hand gun that do not exist. How about a 500 Special in a 4 5/8 Black hawk. The 500 Special would be a short version of the 500 Mag hurling huge cast slugs at 700-900 fps. I would like that.

I just wish like many people Ruger would start putting together the finest revolvers made since they already make all the parts but refuse to connect them. Look at Taurus and recently S&W. It took Ruger 25 years to offer the 4 inch Redhawk and thats rediculous. Taurus however offers every possible configuration of every caliber in every gun in every barrel length in every finish. Now whos working for their customers? I'm afraid I'll be long gone before Rugers gets their act together and so will gun ownership. Its just sad to think what they could easily be doing now.

If you reload the 500 special does exist, to the tune of IMR Trailboss powder, 800fps or so is no problem with 370-400g hardcasts.
Have a gusmith like SSK, or similar, to cut and recrown the barrel, then add a tall front sight on you shortened .500 barrel.
Who says dreams don't come true. We've got hack saws and drills for that.

any of the guns mentioned here are just a phone call away. A custom smith will make any of them for you. I think what was asked is what would you like the factorys to make. Personaly im not going to cut up one of my 2000 dollar 500s to make a special out of it. Ive shot a bunch of trail boss in the .500s and .475s and it just never gave good accuracy for me. Much better powders to do the same are 231 unique hp38 universal clays power pistol and herco. I havent got real good accuracy with trai boss in any gun yet. Its a great powder for what its designed for as the accuracy requirements in cowboy action shooting arent very stingent and it allows you to load down to the point you can make a 45 colt feel like a 38 speical but i have no need for that.

Lloyd, I've had just the opposite experience with Trailboss, around 1" at 50 in my 50-70 T/C shorty, 1-1/2" at 50 w/ .38 special, and 1/2" at 50 w/ .44 mag wadcutters, (scoped 10" T/C.) I guess thats why we all handload, (or should), you just never know., I haven't tried it in my .475, but then again I've never had much luck with reduced loads in that gun anyways. Since this was a "dream guns" post, I'll go with Cheeseheads idea, only it'll have a Bowen sight package and a 2-1/2# trigger, and would cost less that 1,000$.

I can't think of anything better than what I already have in my 6 inch 500 Mag or my 4 inch 500 Mag or my 5 inch 460 Mag and my 7.5 inch 460 Mag.

Seeing's how cheesehead woke up on the wrong side of the rock I will play the game.

I would like to see a S&W 600 Mag, able to shoot 1000 gr. bullets at 2000 fps. I think it would make a great groundhog gun.

It would have to have a 10 inch barrel, something out of the Performance shop.

how about a 1911 double stack that you couldnt tell from a single stack? or an h+k usp in 10mm?

i also like the idea of the gp100 in 41 mag. i would have to have one of those.

i really like the idea of that production 500 special. a gun that with a little tweaking a working man could have a fine piece. put me down for one of those.

i think horsepower mania has overtaken usefullness as it relates to cartridges. the 500 special would be 100 times more appealing than the 500 smith or the 460; which, to me, is outright silly. little more than a gimmick to tweak numbers and sell guns to people who have ego problems. a 200 yard revolver? kind of missing the whole point of hunting with a revolver, isnt it?

That was funny. I am sure your last part was directed at the guys that happen to like the 460 and 500 Mag. I don't have an ego problem , just have a problem dealing with people that make silly remakes like your's . I have been handgun hunting for 25 years and have taken all kinds of game with them, I have nothing to prove to anyone and if I choose to use a handgun to challenge myself for long distance shooing, it should be my choice with outback lash from the like's of you. I find your consistent post like this silly.
One can only kill so many animals up close with a handgun before they look for a different challenge. And your approval is not needed.

i was just explaining why i would be interested in a 500 special. to me, it would be 100x more interesting. and the only other criteria would be that it would have to be in a compact frame, because a "pistol" that weighs more than my rifle, is really oxy-moron (to me).

The last time I checked Cor-Bon has 500 special loads.
50-70 shorty is an awesome idea, 370g WFN's @800 fps.
I've found that trailboss has a narrow "accuracy window." + or - .5g and I've seen accuracy suffer, though with the right charge my .444marlin guide gun will shoot LBT Hardcast's into sub inch groups.

you can count me out on that one pal!!! My .475s and .500 linebaughs are about all i want to deal with. The smith 500s are very controlable but when you go about that recoil or even to a 500 or 475 max linebaughs the fun turns to work for me. If im to be called macho for shooting big guns so be it. Id rather be called macho then alot of other things. It doesnt take a big macho guy to shoot big guns. Just the right attitude and respect for them. Ive seen a 19 year old girl that didnt go 100 lbs soaking wet kill to boar in the same day with my buddys .500 shooting 450s at 1200fps and then sit down with us and pound about 50 more rounds at steal targets way out on the horizon and do pretty dammed well at it. She is no doubt an exception but ive had my girlfreind who rarely shoots anything shoot my .500 and although she didnt jump up and down and smile and id have much need to shoot a second cylinder full, shot the first 5 and didnt cry or blead. If the guys that show up for a linebaugh seminar are a bunch of macho guys count me in there ranks as there some of the best shots in the country and some of the best people you will ever meet. Ive got to agree with Redhawk and say that stereotype was uncalled for.

Lloyd Smale, it was nice to read about the 19 year old girl that didn't go 100 lbs soaking wet that kill a boar with a 500 Mag. It goes to show with the right training and attitude it can be done and with great results.
I am like you though, I really do not have an interest in a 600 Mag. I am very content with the 460 and 500 Mag. My 4 inch is a handful with them 700 gr. bullets from Ranger Rick.

I just finished a small project for my 4 inch 500. I had bought a 460 Mag end cap the replaces the comps for the 460 mags and had it machined to fit in my 500 Mag. So I am shooting the 4 inch 500 mag without a comp, just an end cap. I don't feel much if any more recoil as if it was comped. I think the weight of the revolver is a big help in the felt recoil in the 500 Mags.

That was the whole reason I don't have a dream gun, when S&W came out with the 2 3/4 inch no comped 460 and 500 mag I was glad to see it, but I did not want to shell out another $1300.00 for another 500 Mag. I just did my home work and had the 4 inch converted to a no comp. That was my dream gun come to reality.

I shot one that was a custom made up with an unported 4 inch barrel and didnt think it was any worse either. The lack of concusion more then made up for the little bit of recoil reduction. was only with NORMAL 440 grain bullets though.
