Has anyone shot these? I ordered a box of 115gr VLD's and the ad said the were for a 1:10
twist, which my Encore barrel has. Upon arrival, the box was printed "At LEAST 1:10 twist
barrels". Went to the Berger website, which stated that they MAY need a 1:9 twist barrel.
They do look more like missiles than bullets.  :)  I am thinking they should be pushed
pretty fast to get proper rotation in the 1:10 twist barrel. Has anyone here
played with any VLD bullets?

I use 125Gr.ULD Wildcats in 25-06AI, & they shoot great, but I am pushing them at 3,250fps. I don't see which cartridge you are shooting, but if 25-06 & at least a 24" tube & hopefully a 26" tube, I believe they will be fine IF you push them to a good vel. & seat close to the lands, these type
bullets prefer that.

Thanks, guy. Yes, it is a .25-06 with a 26" barrel........an Encore barrel. I have to wildcat .270 cases
for it because it was reamed too deep and there is a .003" gap between barrel & receiver. A .25-06
case won't work at all. Had planned to bump them @ 3100+ fps with Reloader 22. I'm assuming
your AI is also 1:10?

Yes, it is 1-10. You should get good results unless your barrel just doesn't like these bullets, & we know that can happen at any bullet weight.

Anyone use these in a .257AI? I just received my encore barrel and am looking to start load development w/the115 vlds.

When the bullet is flying it doesn't know how fast it is going, it only knows how fast it is spinning, so RPM is everything.  Faster velocity = higher RPM, so a slow twist barrel will make a long bullet stable if you get to a high enough velocity.  I had a 1 in 17 twist 22-250 barrel that was excellent, it would stabalize 55 gr bullets out to about 150 yards, 40 gr bullets worked perfect at 4,400fps out to 300 yards plus.  Any stablity factory over 1.0 is good.  Larry
