Shooting around horses
« on: May 06, 2003, 01:17:17 PM »
I have been continuing my shooting around my mules and horse.  I have recently switched from a handgun to rifle. When I fire it off they come running up out of the pasture for a little bit of grain I set down in the 40 foot round pen. Once they are in I fire a couple more times. I leave the round pen gate open so they can leave if they want. They no longer do, as they know the ones that stay get the grain.  They don't seem to be bothered by the rifle (303 Brit.) as much as the handguns.  The 9MM seems to be the worst, then the 22RF, and my 6" 480R they mind the least of my handguns.

:D  Do you plan to eventually shoot from them?

I haven't hunted with horses much, but most of them weren't trained for shooting and were pretty spooked by it.

Wonder how deaf those movie horses are?
