Shooting rests for handi's?
« on: February 05, 2007, 01:16:35 PM »
I know everybody says that is works better to rest the handi's as close to the hinge as possible, so i was thinking that a set of bags like the caldwell deadshot would work best for this.  Am i correct in this thinking, and what do you guys like to use to get good groups.

yeah quick, that may work in the future, but probably not goin to happen right now. Sure does look like it would fit the bill though.  Anyone else use the caldwell deadshot bags with the handi and have success?? thanks all.

The other setup I use is the Caldwell Rock Jr. and a Caldwell rear bag.

I like the Caldwell Tackdriver Bag, it works real well for me. If I remember correctly it was around $30 from Midway (unfilled). I filled mine with rice. I'm thinking about getting a rear rest... The bag supports the rifle from the trigger guard to about halfway down the forend, very stable.

Wouldn't trade my Caldwell Lead Sled for anything.    Just wish the front bag was adjustable horizontally, like the rest in Quick's pics.

I put more than 30 rounds through my .308 last weekend and never felt a thing.

I mostly use a protektor rest its alot like Quicks caldwel rockrest junior, but i use caldwell bags also, especially when i go diffrent places, they will sit well on uneven surfaces and work well like off the hood of your truck. 8)

Here is what I now use at the range for testing new loads or sighting in of a new scope. Otherwise, I practice shooting off of my sticks or freehand. I like quick's setup from Cabela's ... I would think that would take out a lot more human error than my rests.

I use the dead shot bags. They work pretty good and the price is right.

I use the bipod and the same sand bags I have had for years.  I have never bothered with an actual setup like shown here.  I get fantastic groups with my handi and just never worried about it.  Will it get better if I do?  I may just have to go buy a setup.

I usually lean aginst a tree or if I'm being real fancy I'll lean on my truck hood and use a back pack for a rest. I do plan on getting a real rest and a bench some day.
