Biggest was a 275 lb boar last year with my 6-1/2" TC Contender. Load was a 400 gr. LBT LFN, range was about 25 yds. Load ran about 900+ fps. Excellent penetration, shot a little high, no heart, just double lungs. Boar "staggered" at the shot, but travelled 50 yds. before laying down. I know they are tough, but I shot another 2 years before, .475 Linebaugh, same distance, load was a 425 gr. LBT WFN, 1350 fps. Boar didn't go 5 feet, much more internal damage. (LOTS), enough to impress the guide alot. I Like the big flat nose slugs, but in my limited experience, I'd shoot them as fast as you can shoot well. The extra velocity makes a big difference. My brother got a boar (witnessed), 500 S&W, 440 gr. LFN, 1,400 fps. 2" hole in, 2" hole out, exit through the spine, so it didn't move.
