Barrel Pivot Lugs
« on: February 08, 2007, 06:03:12 AM »
Is there a source for the barrel pivot lugs only. I am quite capable of chambering and fitting a barrel for a Handi but I really don't want to have to make the underlug extrator/ejector assembly. I understand how they are fitted and they are just welded on. They may be welded on via a submerged arc to help keep down heat. At least the one I own appears to be a mig type weld. The reason I ask this is there are some calibers I would like to have in the Handi that the factory doesn't offer or no longer offers.

A donor barrel is your only choice, H&R makes them in house but doesn't sell em.

the first one i made <about 20 years ago>was from a chisel.....put on a in line black powder gun to shoot shotgun primers,,,,about 10 years ago i had a machine shop make me some BLANKS that were cut to the same size as factory lugs.....i think i had 10 made and cost 65 bucks..........just a idea.....the older shotgun barrels the lugs were silver soldered on and come off very easy and dont deform as the newer welded on lugs..........jb
