Setup around 430 pm, slight wind, 15deg, with a large field to my left and thick trees in front of me, some brush behind me on the rise to break things up. Called using my homemade ecaller for about 30 minutes with no response. Went just 400yds away and across the road to a very thick spot with a tire track road running through it and lots of paw prints. Within 5 min. I saw a brown yote about 100yds away crossing across the hillside. Too many trees and stuff to shoot but I hoped he was circling towards the ecaller on the edge of the tire tracks. No dice. About 5 min. after that I was startled by a smaller black yote only 30 yds away to my left in the thick brush. He took off almost as soon as we saw each other so no shot opportunity either.
At least the caller works! If I had a shotgun with me the second one would have been history. I am learning alittle more each time I go out. Maybe next time...
