Paying for my SIN

Well, i'm paying for my sins now, I auction I won was from Numrich Arms:

After several days of no gun, no emails I finally get an email today stating that this gun is on BACKORDER.  How can a discontinued gun from a out-of-business company (Gibbs Arms) be on backorder?   Was it sold to someone else?  Did this gun even exist before this auction was put up for bid?  I'm awaiting their email reply as they were already closed by the time I opened the email.  I assumed Numrich Arms was reputable vendor but am now hearing horror stories in other forums.  Numrich arms has the honor of being my first negative online gun purchase of over a dozen.  I have learned my lesson, I shall not stray from the path of Handiness again, I'm ordering a 45-70 barrel for my nickel frame as soon as I can get a refund from Numrich (numb-nuts) Arms.

I find your experiance with Numrich to be uncharacteristic of them. I've been dealing with them for years and have received nothing but prompt, friendly and exellent service.   

My guess is that their auctions are handled through another office/division, but that shouldn't have any effect on their business practices.

My suggestion is to make a call and to talk someone, then politely explain your experiance.  If they are the company that I believe them to be, they will fall all over themselves to make it right.

I may see it yet though my confidence is not high at the moment, here's Numrich Arm's email reply:

"We apologize for the confusion, our order system moved your order to a Backorder status for no reason. It appears to be a glitch in the server and is being addressed by our IT staff. Your order is here and is planned to be shipped out today, the rifle has not been lost or sold or misplaced, it is packed and ready to be shipped to you. Again we apologize for the confusion, but your order is slated to be shipped out and you will be emailed once this happens."

Having worked for e-companies for the last 6 years... that is what's known as a CYA email.... in no way shape or form is it intended to be taken as the truth.  Rather it is a convenient excuse to blame for something that may or may not in fact have anything to do with what is mentioned.......

It sounds like a positive email to me. Give them a week for you to receive your gun and after that I would call and complain. Then I would ask for a refund. About 20 years ago I ordered a hard to find set of car stero speakers by mail it took many phone calls and 3 months to get my money back. I hope you do not have a problem like that.

The saga of Smelly (SMLE) Nelly I think is finally over, she has finally arrived! [] Nice dark walnut stock, nickel plated bolt & trigger, 100% blue on barrel with cosmoline still in action parts like the safety so i'm guessing never fired since leaving Navy Arms.  She comes up to the shoulder nicely with sights lining up naturally.  Working the bolt is very smooth even from the shoulder thanks to the cock on closing bolt.  Also very easy to uncock, just open bolt again and hold trigger while closing.  Trigger pull alittle stiff but i'll be stone it soon enough.  She is in fine shape the grand daughter of the 1879 Remington-Lee Navy.  My dies & brass are on it's way already having 50 405 grain cast plain base bullets on hand.  Can't wait to shoot her.  Not bad at all for $300 INCLUDING SHIPPING.  [][][] Range report will follow.

Congratulations, I just saw a very similar "new" Navy Arms/Gibbs 45/70 on a rack in a gunstore in Maine and I believe they were asking $525 for it..you did great!!!....<><....
