Toolpost polisher

I've been getting ready to do a big job here lately. The barrels will have a full polish to them. These will be heavy barrels and I needed to come up with a way to polish them without so much muscle. Here is my answer. I bored out a tube for a couple of bearings. There are stops so they can only slide in so far. The shaft has snaprings on it that keep the bearings from falling out. The pictures tell the rest I think? It fits into one of the quick change tool holders on my toolpost. I still have to build a belt guard and paint it.  If there are any questions please ask.

How do you keep the abrasives out of the coolant and away from the ways?

(My solution is that I've got two lathes - one in poorer shape than the other.)

This lathe was wore out in the 1960's. I don't have to worry about it to much. Not much of a coolant system. I'll be going through that in my next post. I'll try to get the guard and paint in the next couple days.

The weather is starting to warm up,  Spring is comming,  Have a stack of Dutch Ovens just begging to get warmed up.  Pork Chops in one, Pototoes in another, Clobber, lets see- peach, pineapple upsidedown, maby a berry--maby tomorrow.  will see what the weather is like.

I got the belt guard mounted alright. I welded it up with my new spot welder. I also decided to add a switch. I welded a metal box onto the frame of the polisher. Now it's ready for paint.
