I have done it...the Mauser Tri-fecta!!!
« on: February 11, 2007, 01:44:03 PM »
I have acomplished a long time goal of mine.  For about the last five years, i have wanted to have what i call the mauser tri-fecta.  Basicly, nice rifles in 8x57, 7x57, and 6.5x55.  Today...i am proud to say, the wait is over.  I now have a remington 700 classic in 8x57, a ruger 77 in 7x57, and a cz american in 6.5x55...all mint condition.  Im so happy!  Ill probaly only hunt with the 8mm, but ill enjoy shooting the others at the range!

Congrats, I almost bought a Remington in 8x57 a few years ago, but the wood had issues (forearm had a twist to it, putting pressure on barrel) which I didn't want to deal with on a new rifle.  I have a 6.5x55 in a Ruger that I was able to drop a deer with this last hunting season.  At present, I'm in the middle of building my 2nd 7x57 on a mauser action.  My first 7x57 dropped lots of deer (lost count long ago).  All good calibers.  Can't say why I've always been hung up them, but you can't get me interested in all the new WSM's when the old timers do very well for my hunting needs.  I know the CZ's are excellent, how do you like the Remington?

Mr remington is awsome.  I got it off gunbroker brand new for $450.  I had a trigger job done, barrel floated, and action glass bedded.  I put a Nikon 3-9x40 on it with Leupold quick detach mounts and boy is it a tack driver.  Clearly my favorate rifle of all time!  It also helps that i have around 4k or surplus ammo for practice.

What sort of Mauser action are you using, wally?
BTW, congrats on the trifecta, Joe. ;)
Wish they were mine. :-\
