Charles Daly Autoloading Shotguns
« on: February 16, 2007, 07:53:52 AM »
What are your thoughts on Charles Daly Autoloading Shotguns.
I’m thinking about their Field model with the 24” modified choke barrel. They seem to be priced reasonably.
My early model Mossberg 500 is getting a little long in the tooth. I think I’m ready for a new shotgun.
At one time I had  Browning A5 12 gauge and it shot good, as long as I used high brass (magnum loads) shells.
I really don’t upland or waterfowl hunt much with a shotgun. I do turkey hunt and deer hunt with the Mossberg 500 using slugs
I did have my longest hit on a deer using a slug with the old A5. So I guess I’m looking for an all around Auto shotgun.
Should I include a Charles Daly to the list?

I had one of these back a couple years ago ( synthetic ). Problems from the start , wouldnt eject to start with then wouldnt shoot at all. Sent it in they couldnt figure it out so they sent another...............went on for 3 more "new" guns.  Finally on the last one, I didnt even try to shoot it, trtaded it at pawnshop as a NIB one for a Winchester and had MUCH better results

"The pain of poor quality is remembered long after the joy of low price is forgotten".

Someone at our club had one. he was standing on the station in 5 stand and it went off on its own. he got it fixed and had trouble again. he eventually sold it.

Great quote.  Plus 50 years from now wouldn't it be great to pass on a quality firearm to your kids rather than whatever was the cheapest at the time?
