Help a retiring bpcr silhouette shooter out?
« on: February 16, 2007, 09:19:30 AM »
I stopped shooting nra bpcr sil 2 years ago last march and have put off this job a long time but its time to go ahead and finish what I started.  After several years of shoulder problems and reducing loads and taking medicine to try and stay in I am selling off all my stuff.  This is not a tear jerker deal heare just the true reason I am leaving the sport.  I need to sell a browning bpcr 40-65 like new condition with box.  Trigger job done by less shver, sight trued and slop removed again by mr shaver.  Hadley eyecup, custom bullet mould, wads, rcbs dies lyman sizing dies, podwer blowntube the works.  This gun will flat shoot and never was a disappointment on the range or off.  The question is whats it worth?  I am out of the circle and out of touch with shooters so I have no real idea.  Years ago myself and blackwater and greybeard, leadpot and others used to talk bpcr alot on these pages so I return for help to get out and not loose my ass in the process.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I don't do the web at home so responses could be a little slow.  Thanks for any help in this matter.

You need to put it on the Classifieds if you want to sell it and you must put a price on it. Several of them have sold there in the past including my own personal one. I'm not up to snuff on current pricing. Way back several years ago I sold my personal Browning BPCR in .45-70 for $1400 in similar condition to yours. As best as I recall I sold rifle only but may have included a few extras.

Wayne aka Texas Mac likely is your best source of info on pricing. He is doing a book on them and has a world of knowledge about them. If he doesn't see it and post you might try PMing or e-mailing him to ask.

Thanks Greybeard.  If you want to pull this post I will try and come up with a price and and repost in classified.  I gave like 1400. for this one plus trigger and sight tune up was like 75.00 bucks plus eyecup, dies well you know the drill.   Thanks again.  Sharps-Nut, may need a new title the sharps went away to become a browning nut now well I guess just Nut.

You need to put it on the Shiloh board too:

Sharps-nut, I caught a link to this on the Shiloh forum. I'm looking for a set-up just as you describe to get my son shooting silhouette. My 45-110 is a bit much. If you still have the gun I'd be interested.

Check around your area and see if any clubs are shootiing  long range .22 silhouette matches they are really catching on. If there are not any in your are look into starting one. They are usually shot on pistol silhouette ranges at 50, 100, 150 and 200 meters and are a whole lot of fun. Advantages: no recoil, no reloading, no blow tube, FUN FUN FUN.
