Marlin 45-70 XLR Range Results.

Excluding one round for good will I shot a 7 shot group into less than 2 inches at 50 yards with iron sights and my poor old eyes. If I could focus on front/rear and target all at the same time the group would have been allot smaller. Satisfied so far ;D

If your going to stay with open sites...pick up a XS ghost ring rear site and Williams fire site for the front...these are great help for old eyes..I much prefer my Leupold VX-1 2x7x33 ...works much better for me... ;)

A helpful tip, nobody can focus on three things at once, you should only focus on the front sight,, the rear sight and the target should be a blur, this is an age old concept I learned in rifle and pistol competition.

Thats what  the military teaches , once you get used to doing that it makes life alot easier. I understand what youre saying about old eyes though. Something Ive done in the past is put a white dot on both sides of peep. It seemed to help me center the front sight in the peep a little qiucker

The XLR' s will shoot!   My XLR in 45-70 shot 5 rounds of Winchester 300gr ammo into a nice 1.25" group at 100 yds using iron sights.  No telling what it would do with a scope on it!!

I've got the XS Ghost ring/firesight combo on my Handi 45/70 and I can shoot cloverleafs at 100yds. As for tired old eyes, I've been wearing trifocals for a couple of years  ;). Just focus on the front sight, it will center itself.
