Valmet Scope Mounting System
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:41:18 AM »
I love scope mounting systems that allow you to "easily" take them off without tools, and when reinstalled the scope will go back to POA EVERY TIME...  Most times i carry my scope in my pack, and put it on my as needed for longer shots.  It's also great for transport too as you can pad the scope away from the gun against hard knocks in a bush plane or on an ATV.

Valmet came out with a quick attach mounting system with there 412's, and although it's on the heavy side (solid steel) it does go on and off easily.  It's "very" strong and has a recoil lug built into it that sits into the rib, so even with heavy recoil it stays where you put it.

My 412 30-06/12ga. bbl set is VERY accurate so it was perfect for this test.  I think the test target tells you just how good the Valmet scope mount system is!!  (also how accutate the 412's are)  As you can see, i took the scope off and replaced it after every shot.

I've harvested quite a few caribou with this bbl. set, and i'd take the scope out of my pack, install it, and never worry about if the scope was then sighted in or not.

You can still get these mounts if you look around.  I saw one at a gunshop not long ago for $125.00 and although my friend that was with me bought it, there are others around too, if you just take the time to look for them.  Don't forget to buy a 412 too, as your new scope mount has to have something to sit on while you admire it...   ;D
