Well since this is post number 63, it makes perfect sense that 66 won't open, there isn't one yet.  But could you be looking in a different thread?

That was a typo, 66 should have been 56.

The files in 56 are autocad files.   You must have an autocad program that reads .DWG files to open.    That post is also 10 years old and those files may have been on George's old website host.  I know he changed hosts at onetime.

Can handle .dwg files if I can download them.

The files in post #55 are .gif images; the files in post #56 are .dwg drawing files, which contain all of the gif image data as drawings, both barrel drawing sets in SAMCCBarrel.dwg and all the carriage pieces in SAMCCTruck.dwg.

The reason I posted is that the drawing files do not open.  I have Nanocad set as my default program for .dwg files.  It would be nice if I could download to my computer or open directly in Nanocad.

What precisely are you doing?  Do you get any error messages?  They download as files for me when I click the link.  I will try again.

I have retried downloading these and they worked for me.  Now I am the site owner and that may give me privileges that others do not have but no sign on is required so I would be surprised if they know it is I who is downloading.

So try simply downloading rather than opening the files with your CAD program and see if that works.

I also noticed that the SAMCCBarrel drawing is only of the original design so you can get both styles by downloading www.gunneyg.info/drawings/SAMCCGuns.dwg.

I have opened and saved the gif files from post 55.  When I click on the file links in post 56 the screen flashes, a new tab opens and then closes immediately. The flash and the tab opening and closing takes less than 1/2 second.  That happens with both links.  I am using Google Chrome browser and Windows 10 on a laptop.  I use Nanocad to open .dwg files, but that should not matter since I can't download the files.

Why don't you PM me your email address and I will email the files to you.

If anyone else has problems downloading the .dwg files, make a post here and send me your email address via a PM and I will get them to you.  I don't frequent this site every day so there may be some delay before I get it done.

Just so everyone knows, George emailed the drawings to me and I was able to open them with no problems.

Thanks, George.

I am using Google Chrome browser and Windows 10 on a laptop.

I am guessing that your browser does not like the fact that my web site is http instead of https.  I don't know that for sure but have encountered similar access difficulties that were explained as http not being considered a safe transport mechanism.

Must have been a browser thing.  I'm on Microsoft Edge now, and I could open the files after 2 warnings that the site was not safe and telling it to download anyway.  Like most Microsoft products, Edge is not very friendly to the user.  I will keep using Chrome, but maybe I will remember to try another browser the next time I encounter a similar problem.

I don't do Chrome but maybe there is a setting in the setup menu that would give you the option to override the blanket block on http sites.

A  problem in the past with Chrome is it doesn't like the http protocol it prefers https .

I don't which protocol George's website uses or if that is even the issue.

I use Chrome and it doesn't even give an error message any more when I click on those dwg links.

I use Firefox so I looked in the Security settings and there is an option to suppress http blocking and I am suppressing it.  So that is why I have no problem retrieving the .dwg files.
