BTW, is there anyone out there who has had the experience, or experiences, of finding stuff in old houses that are either being torn down or renovated. I do that/have done that some, and I always look behind base boards/mop boards that I remove. Not uncommon to find coins. I found an old nickel and an old dime behind the baseboards of the house from which I am now posting. I stripped it out on the inside when I renovated it.
The mechanism for coins being behind the baseboards is this: People would lay change on top of a chest-of-drawers or some such piece of furniture. The coins would sometimes be pushed off the back of the piece and fall into cracks between the base boards and the walls.
The oldest extant house in Tulsa was positively identified when letters, which had apparently take a similar fall and lodged behind torn wall paper, were found.
