A few years back, I was speculating with a buddy of mine how I lacked a "thumper" although I dohave a couple of .45/70's..... I always mused about having one of my old 98 Mausers made into a .338WM sporter. Harry took this discussion seriously and after lining up a lifelong dream moose hunt to Alaska, went out and bought a new Ruger MkII laminated SS .338 and a Leupold VXIII 2.5X8 scope. Of course, I advised him to install a Timney, and he went out and bought dies, brass , powder and bullets too. Harry developed some loads, got his sinuses cleared breaking in the rifle, went moose hunting, and like so many of us old geezers - hasn't shot that rifle since. We were musing about these issues the other night and he said he thought he was gonna sell that Ruger - too many rifles, not enough room in the safe and he wasn't in need of a .338 anymore.
Naturally, the words jumped out of my mouth - "How much you want for it?". (I mean, I started the .338 thing, and I never did get one myself.) I have since thought that a .300WM might suit any potential needs that I might have better anyway.
Anyway, Harry quoted me $700 for the whole rig, including the dies, bullets, brass, and powder. I know how Harry takes care of his stuff - this is like brand new!
Awww shucks - I don't why I'm gonna do this................
