44 mag federal barnes?

has anybody used the 225 grain federal barnes bullet?i currently use the 300 grain castcore thru a ruger super red hawk for deer and hogs.my local gun shop said he could get me the barnes loads for 35 dollars a box,ouch.sounds too pricy.need some input before i shell out that kind of cheese for 20 bullets

I'll second that. You are using the optimum load.
                Those 225's are loaded to a good velocity. Recoil will be pretty much the same, despite the lighter weight,  penetration will be less, and they cost more.
