Sorry to say but, you don't hear near enough about the German Hunting Terrier any more, People seem to have gone to the larger hunting dogs-- Both Hounds and Game bird dogs. The German Terrier was bred for hunting Badgers and other ground dwelling critters. The German Terrier is a great little dog with plenty of spunk and will tackle any thing that comes his way, They weigh from 20 to 25 pounds but don't know when to quit. Good companions with good disposition with people. I would love to have one as a companion and hunting pardner. Thanks for the question, Maybe stir up some interest and find one as a pup.....Joe.....

Ahh, the Deutscher Jagdterrier. I like the breed and am fortunate to have seen them in Germany. Not only used for small game, they have been used on boar. Not too many here in the States. If we didn't get our Gordons from Germany, I was trying to talk my wife into getting a Jagdterrier. I even have a few books , in German , devoted to them. Me, I like the wire-haired.

Hey,
ok, lucky me that owns two of them then ;D Overhere (in Sweden) they're used for hunting underground(mainly redfox), all kinds of deer, moose, hogs, rabbits even brownbear in a few cases! My oldest one even hunts pheasants! I'm sorry to hear that it's getting less popular in the states :'( because it's a superb allroundbreed!
