32-40 cartridges
« on: May 09, 2003, 03:15:21 PM »
hey guys i have a box of 32-40 remington kleanbore 165 grn softpoint that i received when when i inheireted my hi wall winchester. i can remember my granpa buying them maybe close to 30 years ago and they seemed old then. i would like to determine their age if possible and their value. they are in a green and red box, box in fair condition but all there, cartridges slighly tarnished but excellent shape. headstamp is REM-UMC 32-40. any info on these would be appreciated.

hillbill,

The Rem-Umc headstamp exsisted until the early 1960's when it was changed to R-P.  Based on your description of the box, I would suspect it is from the 1950-early 1960's era.  Estimated value probably around $40 from what I've seen.
