Mini Disk Comes Through!
« on: February 26, 2007, 11:01:59 AM »
I have had so many different Mini Disk machines over the years and I swear I only bought one of them!  I've recorded a lot of really good bootlegs on Mini Disk.  I've had this one laying around for years.  I didn't want to buy an MP3 player and I didn't want to use my iPod in the field.  This little "Mini Caller" is self contained.  It'll run a 80 minute sequence if I let it.  It has a port and a lot of cord if I want to control it remotely.  I'd keep the mini disk player with me and possition the RadioShack amp and 3" speaker-(out of an old TV, 16ohm) where ever seems fit.  I built it with a 4"-3" reducer, 4" plug, and a drain cap (green), and a 3" rubber toilet bowl stopper to hold that little speaker in place.  I couldn't believe how perfectly that little speaker fit inside the PVC fitting!  Gave him a little paint job, tested the volume ok, put it out in the brush and lost it at 10'.  Awesome.      8) Maybe I'll put a bipod on it!

Yours looks like a great little setup and one that you would not be inclined to leave behind because of size or bulk.
The beauty of the thing is that when the old TV speaker wears out, you can pop a 30watt automotive type in the thing and all for under $10.00. It may be worth trying a 5" speaker as the clarity should be very good all while keeping the volume below distortion level.
