Has the Zumbo fiasco made you decide to buy a "terrorist weapon"?

I was a big AR fan, I had 3 AR15's all set up differently, I had an AK 47  and 2 SKS rifles. I also had an Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf and two of them big 50 BMG's.
I slowly sold them all and got other guns to have fun with.

But since Zumbo's foot in mouth, I felt I have to have another Oly AR15. I have one coming and should be here today or Thursday.

I'm not gonna get one either. I think they are ugly, to ugly for a lamp, and I don't like semi auto anything in firearms except the occassional 22 LR, and then I'd prefer a bolt action. I'm not much into knee jerk reaction. I really don't care who has them, have at it.

If half the energy was put into making sure our congressmen knew how we felt as was put into ruining Zumbo, we wouldn't have to worry about thing's like Zumbo said. All over the internet it sounds like we're getting ready for world war three. We are not. The congress controls these thing's and their votes are influenced. The anti's don't make law, they attempt to influence those that do. So do we! Why not write your congressman and let him or her know that assult rifles are military weapons that citizen's don't own and that a terrorist is a terrorist reguardless of the weapon he uses. You might remind him that box cutter's might well be concidered assult weapon's or terrorist weapons. The shelf stocker's at the Safeway will hate your gut's! They'll have to go to carrying Bowie knives to open boxes.

I was never real interested in AR types until I got to shoot with a buddy who has a Rock River and likes to varmint hunt.  It is impressive - accuracy is in the quarter inch range. Waaaayyyyy better than their guarantee.  I was at their "factory" several years ago when they were working in a garage (on the banks of the Rock River) looking at their 1911's.  I am still undecided about an AR, but mostly because there are so many other guns I want first.  The Rock River will be first on my list for an AR type, if I ever decide though.

One issue I wonder about is how these issues might all play out here in Illinois.  We have a very anti-gun state leadership.  The Democrats have all the power - Chicago/Daley and the rest of the state government (Blagoevich) who are very anti-gun, and the influence of Chicago and suburbs on the rest of the state. 
40 miles southwest of me is the Quad Cities, and in that area we have Les Baer, Springfield Armory, Rock River Arms, and Armalite.  That is a lot of manufacturing capacity.   I recall that at least one of them has declared that they will leave this state if any "assault weapon" ban is passed here.

Cement Man, I think many states are plagued like Illinois. Mine sure is. The Willamette valley, actually Portland and Eugene run this state. Califorina and Washington are in the same boat.

I was prompted to buy an AR several years ago when i heard Illinois wanted to ban them, I figured I'd be grandfathered in and be able to keep it.  I bought a Bushy Varminter and enjoy shooting it.  A bit heavy for hunting but it's been on a coyote hunt or two.

I've got to admit, I've been thinking that I might want one.........not because of Dumbo, but because of the way I've seen them shoot.

IMO, they're unattractive, or, not cosmetically appealing........but so is a Savage and a Tika.....which I already own......as they're great shooters.

Not sure yet.......for what they bring I can buy a mighty nice bolt gun....

I can assure you that no one ruined Zumbo - he did it to himself.

As to Congress, I am fairly certain they are getting the Zumbo message in part because of the internet activity on the subject...

I believe you might be right Coyote Hunter. My point is it never should have been a question in the first place. Doesn't really sound like to many guy's wanted to be associated with the word terrorist or to have their rifle's viewed that way yet here we are talking about weather or not we are going to go out and get a terrorist rifle. It's not a terrorist rifle, it's a semi auto! If we don't want the label on it, let's not use it ourselves, we never did befor! We validate Zumbo's remark like that. I could see Srar Brady claiming that the guy's on Graybeard even call them terrorist rifles. She would likely forget everything else we're saying here. Just a thought!

By the way, do you really believe that any of the companies paying Zumbo would have dumped him had they not been rained on by their irate CUSTOMERS? I don't think so! He made a huge blunder then compounded it with that BS apology but without irate gun owner's, he's still there.

Don Fischer, I have not used the term "terrorist weapon". And I won't,  but in the same token Coyote Hunter used it in a tongue in cheek reference. I don't believe that any AR or AK or any of them guns are "terrorist weapon".

When ARs first came out I was not interested. But over the years they have ben upgraded with bull barrels with some Mfg Cos claiming that sub one inch 100 Yd groups are common. One AR with a 223 Rem and Rem 6.8 MM upper units may follow me home. But I would never get any commie made AKs or ammo. I will not help commie arms  industry when they are supplying arms to people who are killing our military boy and girls.
