new Bowtech Guardian
« on: February 28, 2007, 11:29:27 AM »
Just picked up my new Bowtech Guardian today....OMG...the bow is quiet.  Admittedly, I am a Bowtech fan -- my first bow was the bottom of the line Stalker but I loved it.  Some folks don't like the looks of the new Guardian or Commander but for some reason I just really liked 'em.  That being the case I let my kitty of cash for a 1911 go toward a new bow, I was skeptical of some of the hype, but now I understand.  For me it had no perceived vibration, and there was only a very small amount of string noise -- I'm looking at putting an STS string suppressor on it which should kill it all the way.  Granted I did go from their cheapest bow to their top of the line, but I just can't believe how wicked this bow is.

Right now it is set up at a 65lb draw with a 26" draw length (yes, stubby arms....) the only string dampeners are the factory Bowtech diddys, and I was using a Limbsaver Enhancer 2000 as a stabilizer.  I didn't get it chrono'ed today but when I go back in a week or so to get the STS put on I'll get it done and see how fast she's goin.  So far I'm loving it!!

FINALLY had time to get back to the shop and have a STS installed as well as get the proper coverings for the module screws today.  Also had a chance to have it chrono'ed.  With a 26" draw length at 70 lbs it's shooting 300 fps and to top it off the other 2 fellas in the shop wouldn't have known a bow had been shot if it wasn't for the kathump from the arrow hitting the target.  Being draw length challenged like I am, I never dreamt of being able to shoot a good hunting/treestand bow anywhere near 300 fps -- well without pulling 80+ lbs....

I know that guys and bows is no different than guys and trucks, so if you like Matthews, PSE, Marin, whatever....  I'm sure you have a bow you love and that fits you well and that's just great.  If you like Bowtech, then you need to try this one out, its a winner.

Congrats on the bowtech! The guardian is a great bow, but this is just me, nothing against bowtech but the way they make their bows look..haha its unusual, but the proof is in the puddin' 300fps is awesome for a 26'' dl
My Switchback XT is only in the 280's and I have a 29''dl and at 70#, but I also have a very heavy arrow, thus creating alot of KE, so yea...300fps is darn good for any bow, congrats 8)

280 fps with a heavy arrow is to die for. I'm gonna chrono my Mathews Outback with a 480 gr. arrow to see what I'm getting (70 lb. @ 29 in.)
