.44 Special loads
« on: February 28, 2007, 12:16:38 PM »
Does anyone have a suggestion for .44 Special with 240 grain lead or a 300 lead bullet at around 1050 fps?  This would be used in a S&W mod 24.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I'm getting 1000 fps with a Lyman 250 cast bullet and 2400 powder and a CCI 350 primer.
Newer 2400 is "hotter" than it was.  I'm 2 gr under these loads:

Simple, 240/250gr cast bullet over 7.5gr Unique and forget the 300gr bullet in the .44 Special.  The heavies were designed for the .44 mag with its slower powders and heavier guns.
