Muzzleloader shoot

:D  :-D  :-D      Wellllll,we had our shoot yesterday.  Yup I was there(said in a kind of wince look).  Out of 9 targets shot,I can actually say...yup,I shot.  I could not hit a barn door yesterday if it was painted pink and I had a shotgun with day glow sights.  It just was not gunna work for me.  At any rate,we had proably 60 men and women competing, and from talking with everyone they had a great time.  Lotsa food(hotdogs and pop) and I had some smoked turkey to munch on as I missed the targets..a lot.  The raffle turned out good and seems everyone was happpy with that.  I was really happy with the amount of new shooters.  We had a young lady that was about 13 shooting with her dad(she outshot me).  She was using a .32 and was having a ball.  Another kid just turned,18,from what his friend told me and he had a rifled .72 cal. that he had made himself and not a bad job either, and was having a great time making loud booms and real big holes inna targets.  Travis ,was shooting with me,and it was his second time out with his bp rifle (lyman great plains),and he shot some outstanding targets.  I forgot to mention that all are shot standing on you hind legs,at 25 yards.  He is learning fast and is 25 yrs old,and this sport is new to him.  He dragged along his father-in-law,and now he want to shoot bp also.  If I was not so bull headed,in what I wanted to shoot,I might actually have hit something.  I was using a Lyman Great Plans rifle in .54 cal, flintlock.  I would get spark, good pan ignision, but no round ball going out the other end.  It shot great the first sighter target, and then refused to do anything I wanted it to.  I had it tuned up,what I thought was good, and new aperture sights installed in it.  I had shot it three days prior and had very little problems with it,outsdanding groups of 1 inch at 25 yards, from a rest position(sandbagged).  I hate getting frustrated, but I wanted to use that rifle sooooooooooo bad.  I recleaned it,and started over,Got one round off and they gremlins returned.  I probably shot my best target, with the Lyman .54 cal single shot pistol that they have.  This will place em at 25 yards into one ragged hold with 40 grains, and a pillow ticking patch.  I shot a nice tight 3 shot group at one target.....just onna paper and outside of the bull.        ok.  Plan D.......F.........or one of em at any rate then came into play.  I grabbed my Pedersoli,.32 flinter(it has a 43 inch bbl),to shoot my fourth taget set.  That little gun just kept right on firing.  It never gave me any problems, and for that matter has given me very little in the past.  I was shooting 25 of 3f Elephant out of it,with a hornady rb( all shooting must be with a rb)  My last target was a three bull (1 inch) target.  I could not seem to get em where I wanted to,but I did have two within a half inch..the other(last shot)..uhhhh...............hit the paper.  Seems I had to use three guns to shoot one match.  That....was a first for me,for sure.  I have more fun shooting bp I think that any other sport of shooting that I have tried.  You will never run out of help at the matches and one guy three tables down from me even went and got one of his rifles out of the truck for me to use.  That is why the bp shoots are so much fun, everyone helps everybody else.  I did not use his rifle, but did give him a cigar for his intent.  We managed to smoke em off of the line(no smoking on line).  I look at it this way.  It may have been a little frustrating at first, but ya know.that smell of bp and all the guys and gals laughing over each others targets and score ,sure makes it worth it.  Now its time to practice a little witchcraft on one of my rifles.....................stay safe...King..       No....I also did not hit the  "loosers " target either...Im gunna go have a cup of coffee................... :-D
THE ONLY FEMALE THAT I TRUST IS A LABRADOR.......AND SHE DONT SNOORE,AND DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT MY COOKING...THE ONLY GODS THAT EXIST ARE THOSE THAT HAVE ONE IN THE CHAMBER,AND 19 IN THE MAG.......

King even though you were having problems out of your rifle, it sure sounds like a great time was had by all involved! Hope to hear you get the gremlins worked out of the rifle quickly.
