Home made Arrows (the old fashioned way)
« on: March 01, 2007, 08:51:23 PM »
I am a turkey hunter, and a few years ago I had a request for turkey wings from a guy who wanted to make his own old fashioned arrows.  I gave him a couple of wings and I have since gotten in the habit of saving the complete wings, and drying them out, in case I ever ran into somebody else who wanted wing feathers for fletching.  It is more of a belief for me that hardly anything gets thrown away, including feathers, when they can be used by someone.  Sometimes I save the Hackle Feathers for the fly-tyers.

Now I seem to have a small stockpile of dried out wings, and before I listed them in the GBO classifieds, I thought I'd come here, to the bow hunters, to see if anyone might be interested in the wings.  I figure if somebody would want them I would list them.  If there is no interest here, I will forget about listing them.

I do not intend to get rich on such a transaction, nor do I plan to save any more wings for such purposes, so if anyone would like some turkey wings for making arrows the old fashioned way, answer here or pm me.

JVS. Do not sell those wings for a song. Wild turkey wings are coveted by those who either manufacture fletching or make arrows. You should get a decent price for them. I do not use feathers or I would do some business with you.
